Reducing torque pulsations in PMa-SynRM: a way for improving motor performance

This paper aims to evaluate the performance of synchronous reluctance motors assisted by a permanent magnet (PMa-SynRM) focused on efficiency and torque pulsations. PMa-SynRM shows high power factor, compared induction (IM), although they have greater cost. These machines develop relatively ripple, cogging torque, imbalances. Consequently, electromagnetic is reduced, motor temperature increased, mechanical vibrations are induced. The optimal design machine structures such as flow barriers, magnets, stator slots, among others, allow reducing A comparison made between different designs reported in scientific literature, effects efficiency, pulsation, operating costs evaluated. case study driving air conditioner blower hotel room was made, determine best economic variant IM or PMa-SynRM. sensitive analysis several uncertainties. advantages using one analyzed were demonstrated.
